COLOMBIA – Tablemac, Colombia´s largest wood panel manufacturer, reported its 9M-2015 results with an impressive 26% increase in sales as it reached of COP 206,036 million, the best 9M sales results in the companie’s history. 

Compared to the same period of last year, export sales were up 29.4% and domestic sales up 25.6%. The Company’s 9M-2015 EBITDA margin reached 26.1%, an improvement of 5.3 percentage points compared to first 9M-2014.  That performance allowed a net profit of COP 25.234 million, an improvement of 57.9% compared to 9M-2014 (COP 15.909 million).

Ongoing Tablemac expects a more competitive scenario as Primadera, Colombia´s new MDP manufacturer, enters the market. The newcomer Primadera has already started to dispatch product from its new plant designed to be the largest in Colombia with an annual installed capacity of 180.000 m3. Primadera is also the only local manufacturer with continuous pressing technology.

In 2016 Tablemac will also have to deal with more regional competition. The year will see the start of operations of Proteak’s Mexico MDF project, which is already undergoing production tests, and of Masisa’s Mexico MDF Project, scheduled to start production in the second half of 2016. These two projects will substitute imports of Chilean MDF in the Mexican market and pressure Chile’s MDF imports to the Colombian market as to Tablemac’s export markets.
