ECUADOR – Ecuador’s particleboard (MDP) exports had an excellent year as they reached USD 110.1 million in 2014, an increase of 60.6% compared to 2013.
Colombia and Peru were again the main export markets for Ecuadorian particleboard. Exports to Colombia reached USD 53.9 million (2013: USD 41.3 million), 30.7% more than in 2013. Exports to Peru totaled USD 41.6 million (2013: USD 23.9) a growth of 74.4% compared to 2013. Exports to Bolivia presented the highest growth going from USD 191,200 in 2013 to USD 2.7 million in 2014, more than 13 times the 2013 level.
The particleboard manufacturers in Ecuador and responsible for this favorable performance are Aglomerados Cotopaxi SA (Acosa) and Novopan of Ecuador. Both companies operate their manufacturing sites in the city of Quito.
