Berneck to triple its HDF production

Berneck in AraucariaBRAZIL (Notifix.).- Berneck, Brazil's third largest panel manufacturer (turnover 2011: R$ 700 million), announced plans to triple its current production of HDF (High Density Fiberboard). Berneck allocate its plant in Araucaria, Curitiba metropolitan region, the exclusive production of HDF, seeking to reach to 28.5 cubic meters per month, currently the monthly output is 10.000. To accomplish this goal the company will move all MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) production to the new plant in Curitibanos (SC) to be inaugurated in April. Berneck in CuritibanosThe company explains that high density fiberboard, with a thickness of less than 6 mm is currently used to replace the old hardboard, used for example in the bottoms of drawers, frames, and packaging, and whose production has been discontinued by most manufacturers because production technologies used are harmful to the environment. With the increased production of HDF and the startup of the new unit of Santa Catarina, Berneck forecasts a turnover of $ 1 billion in 2012. "With the expertise of each unit there will be a significant cost reduction and we will become more competitive. Last year, Brazil consumed 375 thousand cubic meters of HDF and production capacity, with this addition will be increased by more than 220,000m3/year. Only those who are able to lower costs of production will prevail in this market", said Gilson Berneck Muller, president of the company.
