Free Trade Zone for new Tablemac MDF plant

COLOMBIA (Notifix).- The Colombian gobernment, through the corresponding authorities, designated the Free Trade Zone Tablemac MDF SAS in an area of 96,724 m2 in the municipality of Barbosa, Antioquia. This Free Trade Zone, granted for a term of 15 years, recognizes Tablemac MDF SAS a reduction in income tax rate, from 33% to 15% and exonerates machinery and equipment for use within the Free Zone from import duty and value added tax (VAT). MDF Tablemac SAS is in the final stages of the construction and of an MDF plant, the first in Colombia. The capacity of this new plant will be of 132,000 m3/year, and will serve a market that imports an estimated 150,000 m3/year. In this regard the company stated, "With this manufacturing facility not only is an investment in excess of $ 100,000 million pesos being consolidated, but more important 150 direct jobs will be generated in the next two years."
