Arauco approves MDP panel mill in Chile

Chile (Notifix).- Celulosa Arauco announced on October 26 that the board of directors of its subsidiary, Paneles Arauco S.A., approved the "Teno MDP Panel Mill" project, to be located in the Teno commune, in the Curicó Province of Chile's Maule Region. The project consists of the construction and operation of a mill that will manufacture MDP boards, with an annual production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters of finished product, of which about 250,000 cubic meters will be coated with melamine paper. The project's execution requires an estimated investment of 110 million dollars, which will be financed by company resources. The Board's decision followed the approval by environmental authorities of the Environmental Impact Statement submitted earlier by the company.The "San José Plywood Mill" project is currently undergoing the environmental assessment process conducted by the Los Ríos Region Environmental Assessment Service. Once this project is environmentally approved, and depending on the Environmental Qualification Resolution and other conditions, it will be presented before the board of Paneles Arauco, which will decide if the project is to be launched.
