MEXICO (Notifix) – On September 5th Proteak informed the market that it has completed the purchase of Forestaciones Operativas de México, S.A. de C.V. (“Fomex”) through its affiliate Pro-Eucalyptus Holding, S.A.P.I. de CV (“ProEucalipto”).
Fomex is dedicated to the establishment and harvesting of eucalyptus in various states of Mexico and operates in compliance with the guidelines of the FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council). Proteak thus incorporates nearly 8,000 acres of eucalyptus to its portfolio.
The total amount of the transaction amounts to USD 30.6 million. These resources came from the 100% successful subscription of the capital increase decreed by its Shareholders Meeting on July 11th. Besides buying Fomex, the resources will also be used to establish a MDF plant with a capacity of 200.000 m3 per year in the state of Tabasco. The plant will feature state of the art German technology, will follow the highest international standards of environmental sustainability and will be served by certified timber plantations from Fomex.
