BELGIUM – Unilin Technologies, the intellectual property division of Unilin, has officially obtained U.S. patent US 12,325,148 for its groundbreaking Osiris recycling process.
The newly granted patent expands international protection for the technology —already recognized in Europe— and marks a key milestone in advancing circular wood fiber solutions across North America.
“By receiving this U.S. patent grant, we are extending the reach of Osiris to one of the world’s most important panel production markets,” said Louis Van Roy, Business Development Director at Unilin Technologies. “This recognition highlights the global relevance of Osiris in transforming waste fiberboards and production residues into high-quality raw materials.”
The Osiris process represents a breakthrough in recycling wood fiberboard waste, which traditionally ends up in landfills or incineration due to its complex composition. The technology enables the recovery of clean wood fibers that can be reintroduced into production lines alongside virgin material, boosting both sustainability goals and resource efficiency.
“Osiris brings together sustainability and profitability,” Van Roy added. “It not only supports greener production practices but also provides manufacturers with a clear competitive edge. By reducing reliance on fresh wood inputs, the technology delivers both environmental responsibility and strong economic benefits—a combination with the potential to transform the industry.”
