PERU – In the 1Q-2015 Peruvian imports of particleboard / MDP reached USD 17.2 million, very similar to the value of particleboard imports in the 1Q-2014.

The most relevant fact that 1Q-2015 data shows is related with the start of Tableros Hispanos in the Peruvian market.  Tableros Hispanos is a Spanish firm established in January, 2014 after Peru’s Martin Group acquired the industrial plant of Tablicia in Lugo, Spain.

In the 1Q-2015 Peruvian particleboard imports from Spain totaled USD 3.5 million an increase of 122% compared to the prior year (2014: USD 1.6 million) lifting Spain’s share of Peruvian particleboard imports to more than 20%, an increase of 11.2 percentage points. This important growth positioned Grupo Martin as the second importer of particleboard in Peru.
