Allyn Ford, CEO for Roseburg, stated “We look forward to the addition of the MDF product line to our portfolio. The Medite® brand is well recognized in the industry, and will be an excellent complement to our current offering of composite products. This acquisition will bring with it a variety of niche products that will enhance Roseburg’s value in the market. The Medford, Oregon plant is a well-run facility and we anticipate a smooth transition. The acquisition represents a key strategic move for Roseburg in our composite panel business.”

Roseburg, a privately owned company, is one of North America’s leading producers of particleboard and thermally fused laminates. Roseburg also manufactures softwood and hardwood plywood, lumber, LVL and I-joists. The Company owns 630,000 acres of timberland in Oregon and Northern California and its products are shipped throughout North America and the Pacific Rim.

Forestal Arauco in 2014 expressed interest in acquiring the entire Sierra Pine operation through its subsidiary Flakeboard but the deal did not get approval from the US regulator. “The agreement threatened to weaken competition and increased prices of MDF (medium density fiberboard) to consumers on the West Coast,” then said the US Justice Department said in a statement.
