GERMANY – As part of the ongoing development of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives, Pfleiderer, one of the main wooden panel manufacturers in Germany, has signed the Diversity Charter, further committing to a respectful and prejudice-free work environment.
The Diversity Charter is an initiative aimed at promoting diversity within companies and institutions, under the patronage of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
By signing the Diversity Charter, Pfleiderer is making a clear statement in support of diversity and tolerance in the workplace, showing appreciation for all employees regardless of age, ethnic origin, nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and worldview, sexual orientation, or social background.
“Our working world is constantly evolving,” says Dr. Frank Herrmann, CEO of the Pfleiderer Group. “Through our commitment to diversity, as an international company, we are better equipped to address societal and economic changes, such as globalization, demographic shifts, and the declining workforce.”
In 2023, Pfleiderer developed a concept with a stronger focus on employee development and integration. Efforts will also be made to increase workplace attractiveness for women and people with disabilities. Another important aspect of diversity that will be addressed in the future is the challenge of an aging workforce.
Dr. Stefanie Eichiner, Head of Sustainability/ESG at Pfleiderer, emphasizes: “Our society is more diverse and differentiated than ever before. This makes it even more important to promote diversity and foster a respectful and appreciative workplace. By signing the Diversity Charter, Pfleiderer is committing to recognizing and respecting the diversity of society and its needs, both within and beyond the organization.”
Diversity management is a cross-cutting issue. The underlying idea is that an organizational culture in which diversity is a natural part of daily work enables all employees to contribute their full potential. It also promotes diversity in ideas and products that the organization represents.
More and more companies and institutions are recognizing these advantages. Over 6,000 corporations, businesses, public institutions, associations, foundations, and organizations have signed the Diversity Charter, benefiting approximately fifteen million employees.
