MEXICO – As of January 1, 2019 Omar Nacif Serio is the new General Director of board manufacturer Proteak of Mexico.
He replaces Gastón Mauvezin, who now will be focusing on Proteak’s strategic issues, with special focus on implementing the corporate structure and capital to strengthen the company as it enters a new development phase.
Omar Nacif, an economist by profession, was Deputy General Manager of the Board and Eucalyptus division. He joined Proteak in 2012 to develop the company’s diversification strategy within the forestry sector through the development of the board business unit. Under his leadership, Proteak not only built the largest MDF board plant in the country in time and budget, but also in just two years managed to position Tecnotabla as the leading MDF panel in sales in Mexico.
Prior to Proteak, Nacif served as General Manager in the fitness industry as well as in the financial and retail sectors.
Proteak is the largest Mexican forestry company, with operations in three countries and sales in more than fifteen destinations. The forestry activity of Proteak has been oriented mainly to plantations of tropical trees of Teak and Eucalyptus.
The company, which is listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange, is the third largest producer of teak in the world and today leads the most important Forestry – Industrial project in the country for the manufacture of medium density boards (MDF) under the Tecnotabla brand. At the end of the third quarter of 2018, the company’s accumulated sales reached MXP 872 million, a 27% increase compared to the same period of 2017.
