THAILAND – Metro-Ply Group, a leading producer of wood-based panels in Southeast Asia, has ordered its sixth wooden panel line from Siempelkamp Group for its Surat Thani facility in Thailand.
This new MDF line, featuring the advanced ContiRoll Generation 9i press, is expected to produce 450,000 cubic meters annually.
The agreement also includes equipment for a 25% capacity expansion of the particleboard lines at Metro-Ply’s Nonthaburi site, adding 220,000 cubic meters of production capacity. Overall, it is the fifth ContiRoll press ordered by Metro-Ply Group.
The contract, signed in August, highlights the partnership’s success, marking their fifth collaborative project. Siempelkamp’s subsidiary, Buttner, will supply essential energy infrastructure, while Pallmann will provide chipping lines and additional equipment to enhance productivity at Nonthaburi.
Metro-Ply’s new MDF line is set to start assembly in late 2025, further solidifying its position as one of Southeast Asia’s largest wood-based panel producers, with operations across six locations, including Nonthaburi, Prachinburi, and Wangaratta, Australia.
