INDIA – Metro Decorative Pvt. Ltd. has successfully commissioned a new pressurized refining system supplied by international technology group Andritz at its medium-density fiberboard (MDF) production facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. The new line has already produced its first batch of high-quality fibers.
The installation marks a significant step for the Indian panelboard manufacturer, which partnered with ANDRITZ to enhance efficiency and product quality at its Kashipur site.
“We wanted to work together with a company that has deep expertise in the panelboard industry, and our collaboration with Andritz has proven successful,” said Aman Garg, Director of Metro Decorative Pvt. Ltd. “Our new system has already produced its first fibers with exceptional quality and consistently reliable performance.”
At the heart of the system is a proven S1050 refiner with 3,300 kW of installed power, capable of processing 20 bone dry metric tons (bdmt) of wood chips per hour into premium-quality fibers. The refining process benefits from an efficient pre-steaming system, which reduces both electrical and thermal energy consumption.
Andritz’s scope of supply also included a 16-inch plug screw feeder for optimal dewatering, a 42-inch easy-maintenance discharger, and an advanced pressurized digester featuring a counterflow and steam regulation system.
Metro Decorative Pvt. Ltd. is a leading Indian manufacturer of plywood, particle boards, MDF boards, MDHMR boards, laminates, and aluminum composite panels. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Uttarakhand (Kashipur), Gujarat, and Haryana.
The collaboration between Metro Decorative and Andritz highlights a growing trend in the Indian manufacturing sector toward advanced, energy-efficient production technologies.
