CHILE – Masisa, a leading regional producer of wood-based panels, reported that sales during the first nine months of 2023 (9M-2023) reached USD 257.4 million.
Showing a decrease of 33.8% (USD 131.4 million) compared to the same period of the previous year (9M-2022: USD 388.8 million).
EBITDA in 9M-2023 was USD 14.9 million, registering a USD 80.5 million drop compared to the same period of the previous year (9M-2022: USD 95.4 million).
This decrease is attributed to the macroeconomic impacts, high inflation and interest rates that have widely affected various industries and markets, significantly reducing demand.
As for sales volumes in cubic meters (m3) for the wood-based panels and derivatives business in 9M-2023, a decrease of 29.5% was observed compared to the same period of the previous year. This reduction is attributed to the economic slowdown in the North American and Chilean markets.
