CHILE – Masisa, one of the leading regional manufacturers of wooden panels, reported that its sales in the first half of 2023 (6M-2023) amounted to USD 180.2 million, representing a decrease of 29.7% (USD 76.1 million) compared to the same period of the previous year.
The EBITDA reached USD 16.6 million in 6M-2023, representing a decrease of USD 47.5 million compared to the same period of the previous year, due to macroeconomic impacts, high inflation, and interest rates that have broadly affected various industries and markets, significantly reducing demand.
This is reflected in a decline in sales volumes and lower cost dilution due to production line stoppages.
Regarding sales volumes in m3 for the wooden panels and derivatives business through June 2023, there was a decrease of 28.1% compared to the same period of the previous year. This was a result of the economic slowdown in the North American and Chilean markets, as well as the stock of products in customers’ warehouses.
With the above, a Net Loss of USD 2.5 million is observed in 6M-2023.
