CHILE – Masisa, through its business incubator Masisa Lab, is carrying out in different cities of Latin America three calls to attract entrepreneurs from different parts of the region with innovative and applicable ideas to the industry of architecture, design and construction.
Leanplay Digital, Leanplay R & D and Leanplay Social are the three open calls with which Masisa Lab wants to revolutionize the industry and promote in Latin America the creation of new businesses, social impact projects and disruptive technologies. Santiago, Concepción and Mexico City are the cities from where the initiatives are being promoted.
Digital Leanplay – in conjunction with the Telefonica’s “Open Future” program and headquartered in the city of Santiago de Chile has a clear focus on digital projects and technological innovation capable of transforming the future of this industry. Virtual reality, Internet of Things, Crowdsourcing and 3D Digital Manufacturing & Design are some of the trends that MASISA Lab seeks to inspire in the Latin American entrepreneurial community to dare and present projects that have a real impact and wide reach.

We are experiencing a change of era; a giant process of transformation and with this type of initiatives we can be protagonists of this revolution”, staes Juan Carlos Martínez, Manager of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Telefónica Chile.
Leanplay R & D, together with the multinational company 3M and headquartered in the city of Concepcion, Chile is focused to attract ventures throughout Latin America who are born under the umbrella of universities and research centers, with a strong base in technology applied to the industry of architecture, design and construction.
Antibacterial or moisture resistant boards; furniture made with touch technology or based on 3D printing; technologies that optimize the use of space; development of high quality products that improve the experience of habitability. These are some examples of the challenges that Masisa Lab wants the scientific community to submit, high-impact projects in R & D that transform the future of this industry.

Social Leanplay – in conjunction with Socialab and headquartered in Mexico City, aims to attract projects, enterprises and social impact companies with the potential to improve the quality of life of Latin Americans through solutions in architecture, design and construction.
Modular homes and construction solutions for the poor; development of technologies for the base of the pyramid to reduce poverty in the long term; water sanitation systems; product design using 3D printing; initiatives to keep alive the craft of carpenters and not let it be displaced by the industrial use of technology. Here are some examples of challenges that Masisa Lab wants to put to the test of the entrepreneurial community, an invitation to submit projects that achieve real social impact and transform the future of this industry.
“The most important challenge of this call is to find ideas that can become truly sustainable business. More and more young people develop related ideas, however, what we seek is not receiving a lot of proposals, but finding the right ones; that may become a social enterprises that achieves change in the lives of thousands and millions of people,” says Juan del Cerro, CEO of Socialab Mexico.
