PORTUGAL – FSC® Friday, a business forum created by the Forest Stewardship Council®, takes place every year to highlight the importance of responsible forest management and the role of FSC® in this area.
“Forest For All Together” was the theme of this year’s event, which took place on September 25 and focused on sustainable options for the construction and furniture industry.
Sonae Arauco‘s Marketing Director, Michelle Quintão, was one of the speakers at the round table on “Innovation and Design: application of forest materials in the construction and furniture sector.” In her speech, she explained how Sonae Arauco’s sustainability strategy is linked to the FSC mission, referring mainly to the fact that 100% of the wood used in Sonae Arauco comes from sustainably managed, certified and controlled sources.
In Michelle’s words: “The market’s confidence in FSC allows us to reach a strategic position, to respond to the environmental challenges faced by contemporary industries and their reputation: informed consumers care about choosing well, and they choose companies and products that use resources efficiently and responsibly”.
Sonae Arauco has a complete catalog of wood products for the construction, furniture and interior design sectors, and its product ranges incorporate FSC certified solutions.
The commitment to use sustainably managed sources applies to the entire value chain and business practices, with products being a great source of carbon sequestration, helping to mitigate climate change.
