AUSTRIA – Kronospan has acquired the m/v Spanaco Star (IMO 9071557), a fully box open hatch gantry craned handymax cargo vessel, as part of a strategic move to secure reliable and cost-effective transoceanic transport for its wood-based panels and lumber.

The vessel, with a capacity of 45,000 cubic meters per voyage, will streamline Kronospan’s logistics, ensuring on-time global deliveries and reducing reliance on third-party shipping.

A crew of 23 professionals will oversee each journey, supporting the company’s commitment to supply chain reliability and customer satisfaction.

By integrating shipping into its operations, Kronospan enhances end-to-end supply chain control—from raw material sourcing to final delivery—providing uninterrupted access to sustainable, high-quality wood products.

The move also offers customers protection from market volatility and freight cost fluctuations.
