BRAZIL – Brazilian plywood and MDF panel manufacturer, Guararapes SA, has informed on the launch of its new MDF production line in Caçador (SC).
The more than BRR 320 million investment will allow the company to triple the production capacity from the current 200,000 m³ / year to 550,000 m³ / year. Therefore, it will be one of the largest Brazilian producers of MDF, reaching a total capacity of 850,000 cubic meters / year of MDF and plywood.
With the latest technology, greater flexibility of size and thickness of the boards and new designs in its laminated boards, the company expects to enter new export markets, where it is expected to place most of the additional volume, taking into account its export experience with its plywood line.
“We started the feasibility study in 2013, when the economic outlook was good, today the reality is different, but we understand that this type of project is for the medium and long term, we continue to believe in the potential of our country. We will gradually start production with a focus on international markets.” commented CEO of Guararapes, Ricardo Pedroso.
