SPAIN – Garnica, a global leader in the plywood industry, has taken an important step towards ensuring a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future by investing in renewable energy.
A photovoltaic installation with a peak power of 420 kWp has been commissioned at its production plant in Baños de Río Tobía 2.
The main goal of this new photovoltaic plant is to supply electricity to its factory in La Rioja, leading to a 14% reduction in the electricity required from the conventional grid each year. This reduction represents an annual emissions saving 386.4 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
The company is excited about the positive impact this initiative will have on reducing the carbon footprint and protecting the environment.
This project was possible thanks to European Union NextGenerationEU funding. Garnica was the recipients of this funding initiative that promotes self-consumption and the storage of renewable energy, as well as the implementation of sustainable heating systems in the residential sector.
