SOUTH AFRICA – PG Bison reached a major milestone by producing the first board of its new MDF line at the Mkhondo facility, almost a month ahead of schedule.

1086PGBISON Full commercial operation is scheduled to commence on July 1, 2024. This R1.875 billion project, with a capacity of 274,000 m³, triples PG Bison’s MDF production to meet growing demand in Africa and select markets.

With advanced technology such as the ContiRoll press from Germany’s Siempelkamp, the line can produce MDF as well as low- and high-density fiberboard.

Justin Berry, PG Bison’s Marketing and Strategy Development Executive, noted that the line’s versatile products will reduce imports into the wood panel and furniture industries.

Aligned with the South African government’s localization objectives, PG Bison contributes to local employment opportunities and economic development through its investments and operations.
