BRAZIL – Eucatex, one of Brazil’s largest panel manufacturers, with operations also in the paint and varnish, laminated flooring, partitions and doors segments, registered growth of 81% in export revenues in 2015. In terms of volume, export growth was 37.8%.
The performance of exports resulted in net revenue of R$1.143 billion in the year, up 2.6% from 2014.
“During the course of last year, the Company prepared itself by modernizing and adjusting its product lines to meet the demand from the export market, which brought positive results. We also concluded adjustments to production processes, which will drive a significant increase in exports over the course of 2016,” said José Antonio Goulart de Carvalho, Executive Vice President and Investor Relations Officer. “Sales growth combined with higher profitability has helped maintain the Company’s activities at levels close to those in 2014”, he added.
In the Wood segment, domestic and export sales grew 1.3% in the fourth quarter of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014. According to the Brazilian Tree Industry (IBA), the domestic panels market in Brazil contracted by 13.8% in the same period. “In addition to exports, efforts are under way to reduce costs and investments in order to keep the Company going during this challenging moment,” he said.
