BRAZIL – Eucatex, one of the largest manufacturers of panels in Brazil, with operations also in the paint and varnish, laminated flooring, partitions and doors segments, announces today strong increase in profits in the second quarter.
Net income in the period reached R$10.7 million, growing 59.9% on the same period last year.
The result was driven by higher export volumes (+44.8%) and by higher sales (+111.5%), led by an increase in shipments of fiberboard (+34.8%) and T-HDF (+423.6%). “Our strategy has proven to be the right one. Exports of these products were only incipient in 2014, and now represent a more significant share of the mix. We are still making adjustments to production processes, which will enable an even more significant increase in exports over the course of 2015,” said the Executive VP José Antonio Goulart de Carvalho.
The Company’s revenue in the second quarter also benefited from the increased export volume. Net revenue amounted to R$264.8 million (R$255.0 million in 2014), growth of 3.8%. In the Wood segment, lower domestic sales were partially offset by the export performance. Total revenue in this segment grew 5.5% in the period, reflecting 111.5% higher export revenues and sales of higher-value products in the domestic market. The Paint segment registered net revenue growth of 1.6%, driven by higher sales prices.
