BRAZIL – On July 10th Asperbras started the construction of its MDF plant in Mato Grosso do Sul (MS). The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Governor of MS, Reinaldo Azambuja, mayor of Agua Clara José Silas and Asperbras director, Mauricio Caldeira.
“The construction of the plant is a responsible decision with long-term vision and a careful analysis of sustainability. The project will benefit MS and Agua Clara. Equipment of the best technology in the world will be installed,” said company director, Mauricio Caldeira. To build the plant Asperbras will invest BRR 304 million and initial production capacity will be 220 thousand m3 of boards per year. But the intention is to expand to a second production line to reach a capacity of 460,000 m3 per year. The plant is schedule to enter operation on 2017.
The mayor of Agua Clara, José Silas, emphasized the importance of investment in the city. “Agua Clara is on the road of industrialization and development. The installation of the plant supports citizenship and self-esteem of the population.” Meanwhile the governor of MS, Reinaldo Azambuja, thanked the confidence shown by investing in the state and said he was happy to have companies that believe in the opportunities offered in Mato Grosso do Sul. “A goal of the government is to bring to our state factories that generate income and development. Asperbras changed the economic profile of the region,” added Azambuja. For the project the local government guaranteed job training programs, streamlined environmental permits and provided tax incentives.
