CHILE – In a recent extraordinary session, the board of directors of Maderas Arauco S.A. approved plans to establish and operate an oriented strand board (OSB) manufacturing line within the Trupán Complex.
This initiative will involve the modernization, updating, and/or renovation of certain parts of the MDF1 line, utilizing existing facilities and incorporating or adapting equipment and processes to produce OSB.
The estimated investment for this project is USD 92 million. It is anticipated that approximately 200 workers will be employed during the implementation of these modifications, with operations expected to commence in the second quarter of 2026.
Cristián Infante, the company’s general manager, stated, “In an extraordinary board session, we have decided to make this investment in a location that holds significance for our company, such as the Trupán-Cholguán complex, reaffirming our commitment to the Yungay commune and the region.”
