CHILE – On July 3, the FSC Forest Management follow-up audit (FSC-C108276), conducted by the Soil Association certification house, was successfully completed.
Over the past 8 days, Arauco has worked intensively to ensure that its forestry practices meet the highest standards of sustainability and responsibility.
During 30 days of field review and 10 days of office work, the company’s teams have demonstrated a firm commitment to continuous improvement and efficient resource management. They have addressed the management of the 2023 findings and their technical groups have shown rigorous compliance with the indicators under their responsibility and scope.
The audit included visits to nearly 30 properties and 50 work areas, covering activities such as harvesting, roads, transportation and silvicultural practices. In addition, 12 camps and one boarding house were inspected, and approximately 45 interviews were conducted with various stakeholders, such as neighborhood councils, teachers, cooperatives and municipal authorities.
A highlight was the visit to four of the areas of high conservation value and the review of restoration processes within Arauco’s heritage. In particular, the focus was on the Ecosystem Service of Parque Oncol, which was in the process of recertification.
Juan Anzieta, manager of Forestry and Sustainability, noted: “At Arauco, we firmly believe in the sustainable and responsible management of our resources. This audit reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence in forest management, environmental conservation and community relations. We will continue to work to maintain and improve our standards, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our company.
