CHILE – Arauco, one of the world’s largest wood-based panel manufacturers, reported that sales revenues reached USD 1,867.1 million during the second quarter of 2022 (2Q-2022), an increase of 20.0 percent compared to 2Q-2021 (USD 1,556.6 million).
Adjusted EBITDA reached USD 597.8 million, an increase of 9.6 percent or USD 52.4 million compared to the second quarter of 2021 (2Q-2021: USD 545.4 million).
Arauco’s net income was USD 303.9 million in 2Q-2022, an improvement of USD 102.5 million compared to 2Q-2021 (USD 201.4 million).
Average sales prices for wood-based panels increased by 15.5% and sales volume by 1.6% compared to the first quarter.
In the second quarter, volumes and prices, while remaining at good levels, were affected by increased exports from Brazil to the rest of the region. North America remained firm in its consumption of wood-based panels.
Plywood sales volume decreased by 11.1%, and average prices increased by 7.8%. Demand remained at high levels, particularly in the USA, Europe and Oceania. Supply constraints persisted in Russia and Belarus, which supply Europe and the US.
