Ecuador consolidates its position as Colombia’s largest supplier of imported particleboard

COLOMBIA – Colombian imports of particleboard / MDP reached USD 69.7 million, growing 11.9% in 2014 against 2013 imports that reached USD 62.3 million.

During 2014, the largest supplier country was Ecuador with USD 38.9 million and a growth of 18.2% compared to 2013, where it reached USD 32.9 million. With this significant increase in Ecuadorian imports, the country’s participation rose 3 percentage points representing 55.8% of total imports of agglomerated / MDP to the Colombian market. The second supplier country in 2014 was Chile with a share of the total imported by the Colombian market of 34%.

The largest importing company of the Colombian market in 2014 was Madecentro with USD 33.9 million and 48.6% of total imports. This reflects a growth of 23.2% in imports of Madecentro compared to the previous year where the company imported USD 27.5 million, which represented in 2013 44.1% of total imports.
