Chilean Particleboard Exports Rise in 1Q-2024

CHILE – Chilean exports of particleboards (PB/MDP) reached USD 23.88 million in the first quarter of 2024 (1Q-2024), marking a 5.1% increase from USD 22.72 million in 1Q-2023.

1086 CHILEIn 1Q-2024, Arauco and Masisa accounted for the entirety of Chilean PB/MDP exports. Arauco’s shipments amounted to USD 18.51 million, showing a robust growth of 25.8% compared to USD 14.72 million in 1Q-2023. Conversely, Masisa contributed USD 5.36 million, representing a significant decline of 32.9% from USD 7.99 million in 1Q-2023.

During 1Q-2024, Chilean exports of PB/MDP notably increased to Peru, the third-largest external market, climbing from USD 2.47 million in 1Q-2023 to USD 3.90 million.

However, exports to Mexico, the primary external market, experienced a decline of 9.8%, falling from USD 9.05 million in 1Q-2023 to USD 8.16 million in the same period of 2024. Shipments to Colombia, the second most important market, rose by 4.9% to USD 4.14 million (1Q-2024: USD 3.95 million).
