CENTRAL AMERICA – During the first four months of 2024, Central America experienced robust growth in the importation of wooden furniture, reflecting a strong demand for these products across the region.

According to recent data, the total imports surged to USD 53.6 million from January to April 2024, marking a substantial increase of 24.6% compared to the same period in 2023 (USD 43.0 million).

Leading the import figures, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Costa Rica emerged as key players, with notable growth rates of 35.5%, 52.7%, and 36.1%, respectively. These countries demonstrated a keen appetite for wooden furniture imports, signaling a trend towards enhancing domestic markets or catering to rising consumer preferences.

Conversely, while Honduras experienced a slight decline of 10.7%, other nations such as Panama saw an uptick of 11.4%, contributing to the overall positive trajectory in the region’s wooden furniture import landscape.

This surge in imports underscores Central America’s expanding furniture market, driven by evolving consumer lifestyles and increasing disposable incomes. As the region continues to embrace quality craftsmanship and diverse furniture styles, stakeholders are optimistic about sustained growth opportunities within the wooden furniture sector for the remainder of 2024 and beyond.
