SWEDEN – IKEA has taken the strategic decision to invest more in the home smart area by establishing Ikea Home Smart as a business unit within Ikea of Sweden.

CHILE – Falabella was the only Chilean retail company selected to integrate the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), which brings together the leading multinational listed companies in terms of sustainability, based on economic, social and environmental standards.

THE NETHERLANDS – Inter IKEA Group reported sales of EUR 41.3 billion in financial year 2019 (FY19), which runs from 1 September to 31 August. This is equivalent to a 6.5 percent growth against FY18.

CHILE – Falabella, the company that won the franchise development for Chile, Colombia and Peru, announced the locations of the first two IKEA stores in Chile: Open Plaza Kennedy (Las Condes) and Mallplaza Oeste (Cerrillos), in Santiago.

BRAZIL – Falabella recently announced the opening of a new Sodimac Homecenter store in the municipality of Osasco, Sao Paulo. This is the sixth store with Homecenter and Constructor format in Brazil.

PERU – In the first six months of 2019 (1H-2019) Peruvian imports of wooden furniture reached USD 25.67 million, which represented a slight decrease of 1.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year (1H -2018: USD 25.94 million).

NETHERLANDS – On July 29 Inter IKEA Group presented the IKEA 2020 Catalog. The central theme of this edition is the “Sleep Revolution” and how great sleep makes us to feel good and helps us better manage whatever comes our way during the day.

MEXICO – It’s official: Ikea will open its first store in Mexico City in the fall of 2020. Ikea executives broke the silence that characterizes them when entering a new market and made the official announcement of their first opening in Mexico.

MEXICO – The Home Depot, the number one home improvement store in Mexico, closed 2018 exceeding its business objectives, operating more than 120 stores in the country and reaching 61 consecutive quarters of positive growth in Mexico.

MEXICO – Lowe’s stores in Mexico closed their doors on April 10th making effective its withdrawal from the country.

MEXICO – According to Reuters, the Swedish company is exploring locations in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey to open its first store in the country.
