COLOMBIA – In 2019, Colombian particleboard (PB) / MDP imports reached USD 101.26 million. Exceeding USD 100 million for the second year.

USA – Less than two weeks from a February 20th U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) final hearing, The American Coalition of Cabinet Distributors (ACCD) remains confident that the ITC will find that imports of Ready-to Assemble (RTA) cabinets have not injured the petitioners in the Wooden Cabinets and Vanities from China trade case.

CHINA – In the response to the Chinese government’s call for strict and effective disease control of coronavirus outbreak, IKEA Retail China is temporarily closing all its stores in mainland China until further notice, effective from January 30. IKEA Retail China (Ingka Group) has 30 stores and about 14,000 co-workers in China.

MEXICO – MEM Industrial, held from  22 to 24 January 2020 at the Citibanamex Center in Mexico City, received more than 7,000 national and international visitors and more than MXP 400 million in business.

PERU – In 2019, Peruvian imports of particleboard / MDP (PB / MDP) amounted to USD 100.9 million, which represented a slight drop of 2.2 percent compared to 2018 (2018: USD 103.2 million).

MEXICO – Walmart from Mexico and Central America (Walmex) opened 134 stores in 25 states of the Mexican Republic, generating more than 5,000 permanent jobs in the country.

ARGENTINA – Egger, a manufacturer of a wide range of wood-based products for the furniture industry, interior design, construction and flooring, opened 28 Egger Haus outlets in 2019.

BRAZIL – In 2019 the United States became the main export market for Brazilian particleboard /MDP (PB/MDP).

MEXICO – As part of its growth plan in Mexico, Sodimac opened on December 19 its fifth store in the country, which is located in Naucalpan, the third most populous municipality in Mexico.

CHILE – Falabella announced a USD 2.9 billion investment plan for the 2020-2023 period, focused on continuing the development of its physical and digital ecosystem, in order to further enhance its technological development and the geographic reach of its network, while improving the omnichannel experience of its customers.

PERU – In the January – November 2019 period (11M-2019), Peruvian imports of Particleboard / MDP (PB / MDP) amounted to USD 92.92 million, which represented a slight drop of 1.3 percent compared to the same period of 2018 (11M-2018: USD 94.17 million).

SPAIN – In connection with COP25, Inter Ikea Group announces the decision to invest 200 million euros to speed up the transformation to become a climate positive business.
