PERU – Peruvian imports of particleboard (PB/MDP) were valued at USD 79.56 million during the January-June period of 2023 (6M-2023), representing a 14.9% decline compared to the same period in 2022 (6M-2022: USD 93.51 million).

CANADA – The Ministry of International Development announced a USD 1.5-million contribution to Roseburg Forest Products Canada for the installation of robotic equipment to enhance their medium-density fibreboard (MDF) plant.

SPAIN – According to data published by Anieme (Spanish National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters), from January to June 2023 (6M-2023) Spanish furniture exports showed a growth of 6.6%, exceeding EUR 1,535 million.

BELGIUM – The European Commission has launched an official probe into potential evasion of EU anti-dumping rules by Russian birch plywood producers and traders.

BRAZIL – As reported by IBA (Brazilian Tree Industry), in the second quarter of 2023 (2Q-2023) the consumption of wood-based panels (PB/MDP, MDF/HDF and Hardboard) in Brazil reached 1.72 million m3, a slight drop of 1.4 percent compared to the 1.74 million m3 reached in 2Q-2022.

BRAZIL – Brazilian wood furniture exports witnessed a significant decline of 18.5% in the first half of 2023 (6M-2023), reaching a value of USD 272.33 million compared to USD 334.18 million in 6M-2022.

BELGIUM – These measures were recently renewed on June 13, 2023. Originally introduced in 2004, these duties were slated to expire after a five-year period.
