La-Z-Boy to exit hospitality business and outsource its casegoods business
EE.UU. – La-Z-Boy Incorporated (NYSE: LZB) announced on April 16 it will restructure its casegoods business, which represents approximately 10% of revenue, by transitioning to an all-import model for its wood furniture.
Sauder to invest USD 13 million in to supply new IKEA contract
U.S. – Sauder Woodworking Co., North America’s leading producer of ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture, was awarded by IKEA a 5 year contract for the production of four furniture families, including bedroom furniture, office, entertainment and children’s storage furniture. The partnership will create at least 150 new jobs and involve an equipment investment of over $13 million by Sauder. Sauder has been a supplier to IKEA since 2007 and currently manufactures kitchen cabinets.

U.S. – Grand Rapids, MI | Steelcase Inc. reported fourth quarter revenue of $779.4 million and net income of $23.9 million, or diluted earnings per share of $0.19.
Herman Miller reports growth in 3Q of fiscal year
U.S. – Herman Miller, Inc. reported net sales in the third quarter, which ended Mar. 1, of $455.9 million, an increase of 7.7% from the same quarter last fiscal year. New orders in the third quarter of $464.0 million were 21.4% above the prior year level, reflecting broad-based growth across each of the company’s major business units and geographic regions.

Italy’s Scavolini Kitchens arrive in Colombia

Portuguese Prebuild opens first Plenty store in Colombia
COLOMBIA – On February 27, Plenty, the chain of home and decoration stores of the Portuguese Prebuild Group, opened its first store in Colombia. Located in a mostly middle class, densely populated area north of the capital, it is the first of ten openings scheduled for 2014.
