U.S. – Scavolini, the leading Italian kitchen furniture manufacturer, opened a new Scavolini Store Miami, in Coral Gables. Located just two blocks south of Miracle Mile, with a surface area of 330 square meters, Scavolini Store Miami represents a new exciting challenge for the kitchen exporter.

CHILE – Arauco, the second world producer of wood panels, plans to advance in innovation and is preparing for the end of this year the launch of a new company: Me-do, linked to the furniture industry. The project was presented in April at the Milan Furniture Fair.

COLOMBIA – Colombian exports of wooden furniture maintained its remarkable growth path in the first half (6M) of 2018, totaling USD 15.2 million, representing a strong increase of 31.3% compared to the same period of 2017 (USD 11.6 million).

U.S. – Steelcase Inc. announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Smith System Manufacturing Company, a Texas-based manufacturer of high quality furniture for the education market designed to inspire better learning and improve outcomes for students.

U.S. – Lorraine Capital, LLC, a Buffalo NY private equity firm, in partnership with Landon Capital Partners, LLC, of Boston and Ironwood Capital, LLC of Avon CT, has acquired Bush Industries Inc., a leading office and home furniture manufacturer, in a move that will bolster the company’s ability to serve commercial office and residential customers with quality products meeting the company’s strategic focus: easy, fast, affordable.

USA – Herman Miller, Inc., the global designer and furniture manufacturer, announced it acquired a 33 percent equity interest in Nine United Denmark A/S (HAY) for USD 66 million.

ITALY – In the past days the first “Italian furniture origin” certification has been officially granted to Fantoni under the new product certification joint scheme of Catas and Cosmob.
