BRAZIL – Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves will have two 50-square meter booths during the next Salone Internazionale del Mobile (iSaloni) in Milan, Italy from April 12-17. 

SPAIN – Coinciding with the commemoration of World Wood Day on March 21st, FINSA launches the first edition of Thinking Wood Awards, a distinction aimed at highlighting the work using wood done by professionals in architecture, interior design and decoration, and rewarding the best projects implemented with materials made by any of the companies of the Finsa Group.

ITALY – The 55th edition of the Salone del Mobile Milano will bring together over 300,000 operators from more than 160 countries and a visiting public of over 30,000 people on the Saturday and Sunday – from 12th to 17th April at the Milan Fairgrounds, Rho. 

REGION – The call to participants of Masisa’s Design Competition for Students 2016 is now open. This competition, promoted in the region for several years now by board manufacturer Masisa, is directed at students majoring in design, architecture and related subjects, and aims to boost careers and the development of the furniture industry, encouraging creativity and technological innovation through design. 

GERMANY – The Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM), based on their research on megatrends and a survey of exhibitors at imm cologne 2016, detected trends in the furniture industry and interior design for 2016 season . Here are the findings:

GERMANY – Our lives are affected by fundamental societal influences. The term “megatrends” is used to describe these epochal and universal forces. Megatrends are the obvious but also the unnoticed strong undercurrents in societies, which occur to varying extents. 

GERMANY – Between January 16 and 24, Germany hosted two important trade fairs for the decoration industry. 

BRAZIL – The judging panel of the Salão Design Award approved 139 projects out of 750 entries for the final phase of the award, when the finalists will send to Bento Gonçalves their products or life-size prototypes. 

BRAZIL – Three US importers arrived in Brazil the first week of November to take part in a special buyer’s project with designers from the Projeto Raiz – an initiative developed by Apex-Brasil and Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves to boost exports of services provided by designers. 

ITALY – At Sicam, German décor specialist Schattdecor featured the 15/16 trends tailor-made to the requirements of the Italian market. 

GERMANY – The German Design Council has awarded the German Design Award – Special Mention 2016 to Hettich for the InLine S sliding door system and the InnoTech Atira drawer system. 

ALEMANIA – The Japan Institute of Design Promotion has awarded the InLine S sliding door system by Hettich the G-Mark symbol in the Good Design Award 2015.
