PORTUGAL – Sonae Arauco will participate for the first time in Homeing, the event that brings together brands of excellence in the areas of furniture, lighting, paneling, decoration fabrics and accessories in Portugal.

MEXICO – Tecnotabla one of the main MDF manufacturers in Mexico closed the second quarter of 2019 (2Q-2019) with a sales volume of 51.9 thousand m3 and revenues of MXN 271 million.

U.S. – On August 24th the first MDF board was produced at Swiss Krono Group’s factory in Barnwell, South Carolina, USA.

CHILE – Arauco, one of the world’s largest forestry companies, reported sales revenues of USD 1,351.6 million during the second quarter of 2019, a 13.3 percent decrease compared to the same period of 2018.

Arauco to acquire MDF molding manufacturer Prime-Line

U.S. – Arauco, a global producer of wood products, announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Prime-Line Inc., a privately held U.S. manufacturer of medium density fiberboard (MDF) molding and millwork products.

BRAZIL – In the second quarter of the year (2Q-2019) Eucatex reported sales for BRL 373 million, growth of 23.5 percent when compared to BRL 302 million in the same period of the previous year.

GERMANY – Swiss Krono is investing in a RotaJET 225 from Koenig & Bauer for its production facility in Heiligengrabe in the north of Germany.

PORTUGAL – Sonae Industria saw a consolidated turnover for the first half of the year of 116.4 million euros, an improvement of close to 4.1 percent against same period of last year (+4.5 million euros), driven by  2.7 million euros favorable exchange rate effect resulting from the appreciation of the Canadian dollar vs. the EUR, but also by an increase in average selling prices y.o.y. in their North American business, which registered the highest ever quarterly turnover in local currency.

BRAZIL – Duratex, Brazil’s largest producer of industrialized wooden panels and floors, ceramic and sanitary metals, informed its financial results for the second quarter of 2019.

CANADA – Norbord Inc., the world’s largest producer of oriented strand board (OSB), reported Adjusted EBITDA of USD 36 million in the second quarter of 2019, a sharp drop compared to USD 273 million in the second quarter of 2018.
