PORTUGAL – Preliminary results from Sonae Arauco‘s Forestry Research & Development (R&D) Project, started in 2020, suggest that radiata pine from Chile is more resilient in a Portuguese setting.

BRAZIL – In January, Placas do Brasil reached the volume of 1,000,000 m³ of MDF produced since the startup of the plant on June 11, 2018.

AUSTRIA – The Egger Group closed the first half of its 2021-22 financial year with consolidated sales of EUR 1.98 billion (USD 2.24 billion) an increase of 36.5% as compared to the previous year.

AUSTRIA – Since 1961, Egger has developed from a Tirolean sawmill into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wood-based materials.

BRAZIL – On December 2, 2021, Arauco Do Brasil signed and closed a transaction with Stora Enso Amsterdam B.V. whereby the latter sold to Arauco all of its shares in Arauco Florestal Arapoti S.A. .

GERMANY – Homanit GmbH & Co KG, a subsidiary of Homann Holzwerkstoffe GmbH and a leading European supplier of thin, high-quality finished medium-density (MDF) and high-density (HDF) fibreboards, announced extensive investments in its site in Losheim am See (Germany).

CHINA – Wanhua Ecoboard, the panel division of Chinese Wanhua Industrial Group, has ordered two lines from Dieffenbacher that will enable it to begin producing wheat straw-based Supermechanical Strength Particleboard (Super PB) in 2023.

INDIA – Baahu Panel Pvt Ltd, the wholly owned subsidiary of Greenply Industries Limited , orders a Siempelkamp plant for the production of MDF and HDF. Greenply Industries Limited is India’s largest interior infrastructure company.

USA – Egger Wood Products has announced it will be investing USD 50 million for an additional production line and a new recycling center next year. 

GERMANY – On November 22nd, the South African wood-based panel producer PG Bison signed the contract for the purchase of its fourth Siempelkamp plant within 15 years.
