Brazilian Wooden Furniture Exports See a 14.3% Decline in 2023

BRAZIL – The export of wooden furniture from Brazil encountered a significant decrease of 14.3% in 2023, totaling USD 561.77 million compared to the USD 655.66 million recorded in 2022.

1067BRASILMUEBLESThe United States, a key export destination, witnessed a substantial drop of 30.5%, falling from USD 278.44 million in 2022 to USD 193.47 million in 2023. The United Kingdom, holding the position of the second-largest foreign market, experienced an 8.2% decline in furniture exports from Brazil, decreasing from USD 50.97 million in 2022 to USD 46.80 million in 2023.

Due to a noteworthy decrease of 14.8%, Chile lost its position as the third-largest foreign market, with exports valued at USD 39.16 million in 2023. Uruguay, with a 24.2% improvement, surpassed Chile, becoming the third most important market for Brazilian wooden furniture in 2023 with USD 42.72 million (2022: USD 34.40).

Concerning exporting states, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande Do Sul continued to be the top contributors in 2023. Santa Catarina experienced a decline of 26.4%, dropping from USD 311.10 million in 2022 to USD 229.10 million in 2023. Rio Grande Do Sul faced a much milder decline of 3.0%, with exports totaling USD 177 million in 2023, compared to USD 182.56 million in 2022.
