ECUADOR – Aglomerados Cotopaxi, a well-known producer of wood panels, is the first company in Ecuador to be verified as Carbon Negative, making a significant contribution to sustainable development.

1084COTOPAXIThe Carbon Negative verification was the result of a carbon footprint project in partnership with Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA) and Finance In Motion, using academic methodologies and international standards.

Annually, the company captures 225,000 tons of carbon through its forestry plantations. After offsetting its emissions, it has a surplus of 190,000 tons, equivalent to the emissions of 45,000 cars per year.

“This recognition highlights Aglomerados Cotopaxi’s ongoing commitment to show the world that there is an industry that produces sustainable wood and is making valuable efforts to consolidate a forestry culture in the country,” said Bernardo Pérez, General Manager of Aglomerados Cotopaxi.
