Slight decline in Ecuadorian fiber boards imports

ECUADOR – In the first four months of 2017 Ecuadorian imports of fiberboard (MDF/HDF/HB) fell slightly to USD 2.287.500 compared to USD 2.332.606 in the same period of 2016 (-1.9%).

Masisa Ecuador was the main importing company in the first 4M-2017 with USD 795.101 and a strong increase of more than 200% (2016: 239.281). Followed by Edimca with USD 398.947 (+ 2.8%) and Novopan with USD 383.424 (-51.1%).

Chile was the main supplying country of fiberboard to the Ecuadorian market in the January – April 2017 period with USD 1.201.538 and a 29.1% growth. Followed by Brazil whose shipments to Ecuador had a significant drop from USD 1.137.273 in the first 4M-2016 to USD 730.119 in the same period of 2017 (-35.8%).

Masisa Chile was the main supplying company of fiberboard in the first 4M-2017 with USD 704.133 representing 30.8% of the total imported into Ecuador. Brazil’s Berneck followed with USD 625,545 and a 27.5% share and third was Maderas Arauco of Chile with USD 378,986 and a 16.6% exports share in the period.
