MEXICO – Tecnotabla, Proteak’s MDF producing business, had an output of 50.685 m3 in the first quarter of 2017, a growth of 23% over the previous quarter. The plant’s production ramp-up continues according to schedule and it has reached already 93% of the plant’s nominal capacity.
Although production costs were adversely affected by increases in raw materials costs, the quarter reflected a 38% increase in sales compared to the previous quarter, closing at 242 million Mexican pesos.
During 1Q17 Tecnotabla continued to strengthen its presence in the market operating in 23 states of Mexico with a purchase recurrence above 83%. The marketing of value-added products began, including melamine in the portfolio and the first exports of MDF boards to the United States continued, where it is present in 9 states.
During the first quarter of 2017 the turbine for electrical energy cogeneration started operating steadily, with the objective of integrating completely to the manufacturing process during Q2 2017. The quarter also saw the production start of the resin plant and the company obtained the CARB 2 certification, an important step for the development of its exports to the U.S. market.
