Colombian imports of particleboard up 17% in the 1Q-2017

COLOMBIA – Colombian imports of particleboard / MDP reached USD 22.75 million in the 1Q-2017, representing an increase of 17% compared to the same period 2016 (USD 19.45 million).

Ecuador’s Novopan continues to consolidate as the leading foreign supplier with USD 14.83 million in 1Q-2017 compared to USD 13.69 million in 1Q -2016 (+ 8.3%). Paneles Arauco from Chile was the second largest supplier in 1Q-2017 with USD 3.09 million (1Q-2016: USD 2.53 million) and Brazilian Duratex moved past Chilean Masisa as the third foreign supplier to the important Colombian market.

Among the companies importing particleboard in 1Q-2017 the main one was again Madecentro with USD 13.41 million followed by Arauco Colombia (USD 3.09 million) and Tablemac (USD 2.6 million). Among the supplying countries, Ecuador leads again in 1Q-2017 (USD 14.9 million), followed by Chile (USD 4.3 million) and Brazil (USD 3.05 million). Brazil was also the supplying country with the highest growth in the period (107 %).
