BRAZIL – The value of Brazilian wooden panel exports grew 25.5% in the 1Q-2017 to USD 64 million (1Q-2016: USD 51 million). Latin America was the main regional market for Brazilian wood panels with USD 35 million (1Q-2016: 28 million) followed by North America with USD 14 million (1Q-2016: 12 million).
In volume Brazilian panel manufacturers also maintained an important 45.6% growth of exports in the first quarter of 2017, reaching 284.000 (1Q-2016: 195.000).
Consolidated domestic sales in Brazil, for the first quarter of 2017 reached 1.61 million m3, an increase of 2.9% compared to the same period 2016 (1.56 million m3). Consolidated wood panel consumption was up by 2.9% in 2017 compared to 2016.
In March 2017 and according to IBA (Industria Brasileira de Árvores) monthly report, Brazilian domestic sales of wood panels reached 572.000 m3 that represented a drop of 3.7% compared to March 2016.
In March 2017 domestic panel consumption in Brazil reached 573.000 m3. Although this represents a drop of 3.5% compared to March 2016 (594.000 m3), It was the highest monthly consumption in the last year.
