Brazilian Wood Panel Sales and Consumption grow in November

BRAZIL – In November 2016, according to IBA (Industria Brasileira de Árvores) monthly report, Brazilian domestic sales of wood panels reached 533,000 m3, a 3.5% increase compared November 2015 (515,000 m3). 

Domestic panel consumption in Brazil also experienced an increase in November 2016 with 533,000 m3 consumed, 3.3% higher compared to November 2015 (516,000 m3).

Consolidated domestic sales in Brazil, for the January – November 2016 period, reached 5,75 million m3, a decrease of 3.3% compared to the same period 2015 (5,94 million m3). Consolidated consumption of panels also decreased by 3.4% in the first eleven months of 2016 (5,75 million m3) as compared to the same period of 2015 (5,95 million m3).

Brazilian panel manufacturers were able to partially offset lower domestic sales and consumption in the first 11 months of 2016 by maintaining an important growth of 65.2% panel exports in the period and reaching 932,000 m3 (2015: 564,000 m3).
