Board consumption in Brazil keeps falling

BRAZIL – November was the eight consecutive monthly drop in domestic board consumption in Brazil.

According to IBA’s (Industria Brasilera de Arvores) latest report, Brazilian domestic board sales reached 514.000 m3 in November compared to 631.000 m3 in November 2014 (-18.5%).

In November Brazilian board exports were up 106.3% reaching 66.000 m3 and imports were down 66.7% totaling 1.000 m3. Brazilian board consumption totaled 515.000 m3 in November 2015 compared to 634.000 m3 in November 2014 (-18.8%).

For the January – November period, Brazilian domestic board sales reached 5.9 million m3, compared to 6.7 million m3 in the same period 2014. Exports for the year were 564.000 m3, 43.9% higher than same period last year and imports were down 84.2%. Brazilian board consumption in the 9-month period declined 11.6% reaching 5,96 million m3 (2014: 6,74 million m3).
