Martin Group doubles its participation in PB imports to Peru

PERU – In the period January-May 2015 Martin Group of Peru doubled its share in total imports of particleboard, growing by 8.8 percentage points, reaching a 17.6% share of total imports (2014: 8.8%). 

Grupo-martin-201504In values, imports of agglomerated of Matin Group were USD 5.3 million versus USD 2.9 million in the same period of 2014 (+82.1.%). The Group was also the sole importer which recorded growth in the period. It is important to point out that Martin Group acquired the industrial installations of former Tablicia in Lugo, Spain, where in January 2014 it stablished the company Tableros Hispanos.

This noteworthy performance by Martin Group took place in a market downturn. In the period from January to May they Peruvian imports of PB reached  USD 29.8 million, down 8.8% compared to the same period in 2014 (USD 32.6 million). Novopan Peru maintained its leading position with a 39.3%share of total imports, followed by Arauco Peru with 22.5%, Martin Group with 17.6% and Masisa Peru with 13.7% share.
