BRAZIL – Duratex, Latin America’s largest board manufacturer, reached a net profit of BRR 68.5 million in the first quarter, a 47.8 percent drop compared to same period last year when it reached BRR 131.2 million.

In turn, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were BRR 214.4 million from January to March, falling 10.7 percent compared to the same period 2014 (BRR 240 million).

The Wood Division showed an increase in volume in the first quarter of 12.2% against the same period of 2014, mainly due to furniture demand driven mainly by large retailers and by exports. The volume of laminated boards shipped was up 19.4%, reaching 317 thousand cubic meters and volume of raw boards shipped improved 7% (317,000 m3).
