USA –   HNI Corporation announced the completion of its acquisition of Steelcase Inc., officially combining two of the most prominent companies in the workplace furniture and solutions sector.

The transaction comes as organizations increasingly shift back to office environments and seek adaptable, innovative workspace designs.

HNI Chairman, President, and CEO Jeff Lorenger said the deal—strongly supported by shareholders of both companies—brings together businesses with aligned values, complementary capabilities, and solid financial positions. Lorenger noted that the combined company will benefit from shared strengths in innovation, thought leadership, and operational excellence, enabling greater investment in long-term operational improvements, digital transformation, and enhanced customer buying experiences.

The merger creates a significantly stronger market position by integrating both companies’ product portfolios, distribution networks, and operational resources. The combined business is expected to generate approximately USD 5.8 billion in annual revenue. HNI will continue operating from its headquarters in Muscatine, Iowa, while Steelcase will maintain its headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Additionally, HNI’s Board of Directors has expanded from 10 to 12 members with the inclusion of two former independent Steelcase directors.
