GERMANY – Around 50 Sonae Arauco employees in Meppen, together with their families, took part on 8 November in a local reforestation initiative, planting 1,000 young sessile oaks in a forest area near the plant.
The effort—the first of its kind in the town—demonstrates the company’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
Plant Manager Frank Günnemann joined the volunteers as they helped convert a prepared site into a more climate-resilient mixed woodland. T
he initiative supports environmental protection and strengthens regional biodiversity.
Günnemann noted that the strong participation shows sustainability is “a shared value” within the company. The project aligns with Sonae Arauco’s global sustainability strategy, built on a circular bioeconomy model that prioritizes recycled wood and controlled or certified sources.
With initiatives like this, the company reinforces its aim to generate positive impact not only through its products but also through local actions that benefit both the environment and society.
